AI Sales Roleplay Buyer’s Guide: What Demos Don’t Show
TL;DR
  • The Call Ends Later: Quality programs score what they can hear, but console work after the call drives handling time, data quality and compliance, and has rarely been scored.
  • Practice The Workflow: Admins record the ideal process once in the real console with the Outdoo Chrome extension. Agents then practice the conversation while working the same system, and Outdoo scores handling time and skipped steps.
  • Real Callers, Real Languages: Roleplays come from calls your team has taken, by voice, chat or video, in over 120 languages. Every real call can then be scored on one rubric.
  • Built For Regulated Work: Outdoo is SCORM ready for LMSs like Docebo, Cornerstone and Workday, complies with GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA and SOC 2, and scrubs PII.

An agent finishes a call. The caller was upset, the agent stayed calm, the issue got resolved. By any listening standard it was a good call.

‍

Then the caller hangs up. The agent picks the wrong disposition, skips a required field and spends four more minutes in the console fixing it. The call timer stopped at zero. A second clock, the one nobody labeled, kept running.

‍

She handled the conversation well and still failed the contact.

‍

The Call Ends. The Job Doesn't.

‍

Quality programs measure the part they can hear. A reviewer listens to a call, scores empathy and accuracy and moves on. The console work afterward drives handling time, data quality and compliance, and it has been close to impossible to score.

‍

So agents get good at what is measured. They talk well and stay slow in the system.

‍

Training has the same blind spot. One of our customers, a Fortune 500 industrial company, runs a team of junior engineers doing early sales qualification. Its CRM data was poor, and our read is that nobody had ever practiced the data entry. They were trained on the conversation and left to figure out the record afterward. When practice covered both the call and the workflow, CRM accuracy improved 76% and sales onboarding ran 2.2x faster. That is a sales team, but the lesson belongs to every desk with a console.

‍

Knowing the Process Is Not the Same as Working It

‍

Across our platform data, support agents often follow the workflow correctly and then struggle with tone and the order of empathy when a caller is upset. Training that tests only one of those hides the other.

‍

Workflow Training is the piece that tends to change support teams most. An admin records the ideal process once, in the real console, using the Outdoo Chrome extension. After that, an agent practices the conversation and works the same system at the same moment. Outdoo scores handling time, resolution and every skipped step. A ghosted ideal path sits over her actual path, and where they diverge you can see it.

‍

It is the first time many teams can answer a plain question. When this agent takes a hard call, does she also finish the work correctly afterward?

‍

Start With the Callers You Actually Get

‍

Roleplays come from calls your team has taken: the distressed member pressing for an answer before verification is complete, the caller who wants a date you cannot promise. They push back the way real callers do, by voice, chat or video, in over 120 languages.

‍

Invitation Homes, the largest owner-operator of single family rental homes in the U.S., needed two very different skills, leasing conversion and resident de-escalation. It wanted both in one platform, with completions flowing into Workday Learning. Its L&D manager put the payoff this way: "I can plan coaching time instead of reacting to random calls."

‍

Policy First, Then the Test

‍

An AI Trainer teaches the policy before any of this, built from your own documents. It can cover a compliance rule, a hard answer or a walk through the software on screen. It checks understanding as it goes, so a policy is done when the agent can explain it, not when someone opened it.

‍

In regulated work that matters. A 40 year old debt collection financial services firm trains collectors against scorecards built on its own disclosure requirements, where a deviation from the script is a compliance risk. Its compliance scores rose from 96% to 98% over a year, even as each agent worked more accounts.

‍

Every Call, One Rubric

‍

The same scorecard then grades real calls. Quality stops being a small sample scored by hand and becomes every call on one rubric, with the pattern visible before it becomes an audit finding.

‍

The agent sees it too. If practice and live scoring both show a missed verification step, she is not hearing it from a reviewer three weeks later. She can move her own numbers and check the next call. That is why we think agents practice when it shows up in their own handling time and resolution. It is a mechanism, not a measured lift.

‍

Supervisors get the other half. Outdoo updates the CRM from the call and writes the coaching summary, and Globe Life reports 40+ manager coaching hours saved each month.

‍

Where It Runs

‍

Outdoo ships as a SCORM package into the LMS you already use, such as Docebo, Cornerstone or Workday. It complies with GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA and SOC 2 and scrubs PII, which matters when calls contain member or patient details.

‍

Try the Smallest Version First

‍

Pick one high volume call type. Record the ideal console process once, build two roleplays from real calls and run a small group for a week. Then compare conversation scores with handling time and steps missed. The gap is often not where you expected.

‍

Tomorrow, Day 5, we look at first time managers, and the hard conversation they get wrong first.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Workflow Training for support teams?

An admin records the ideal process once in the real console using the Outdoo Chrome extension. After that, an agent practices the conversation and works the same system at the same moment. Outdoo scores handling time, resolution and every skipped step, and shows a ghosted ideal path over the agent's actual path so you can see where they diverge.

Can Outdoo score every support call instead of a sample?

Yes. The same scorecard that grades practice grades real calls, so quality moves from a small hand scored sample to every call on one rubric. Patterns show up before they become an audit finding, and Outdoo also updates the CRM from the call and writes the coaching summary for supervisors.

Is Outdoo safe for calls with member or patient details?

Outdoo complies with GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA and SOC 2 and scrubs PII, which matters when calls contain member or patient details. It also ships as a SCORM package into the LMS you already use, such as Docebo, Cornerstone or Workday, so training stays inside your existing setup.
