Skill AI Trainers: The Missing Step Between Reading the Playbook and Surviving a Roleplay

Most training programs have two settings. One: here's the playbook, please read it. Two: you're live with a difficult buyer, good luck. Then we act surprised when people don't improve, when what we've actually done is skip the entire part where skill gets built.

Skill trainers are that middle step. In a roleplay the agent plays a buyer, stays in character, and will not stop to help you, that's the point, it's a test. In a skill trainer session the agent plays a coach: it explains the move, asks the learner to try it, and reacts to what they actually said, in the moment, rather than handing over a score at the end. And nobody's watching, which is most of the reason people avoid practice in the first place.
